China festival of lights!

Just before Christmas we visited the Emmen Zoo where the event China Festival of lights”, takes place from 10th of November 2009 till 10th of January 2010.It exceeded my expectations, beautiful such an atmosphere and very special that all those light sculptures have been made by Chinese artists. After preparations in China, they started building up all the sculptures in October this year in Emmen.

At the entrance there is a warm welcome with a hedge of Chinese lanterns…

Spreaded over the park about 32 light sculptures are standing along the route…

These impressive sculptures are made of silk and they sustained the influence of snow and rain very well!

Scattered over the route you find stands with all kind of Chinese delicacies and “musthaves” and there are various activities linked to the Chinese Culture.

Very special were these elephants, totally made of Chinaware!
